Air Traffic Flow Regulation

On 27 May 2021, the Federal Air Transport Agency issued a statement notifying airlines of potential extended periods required for the completion of arrival, departure and overflight permission procedures in the Russian Federation airspace in case of amendments to previously approved routes to/from departure points in Europe to/via the Russian Federation airspace.

Extended time frames for the procedures are due to an increased total number of requests from airlines.

Russian air traffic service units will be regulating air traffic flows according to the applicable rules specified in the Aeronautical Information Publication of the Russian Federation, in order to ensure the required airspace capacity and safety levels.

Over the last 24 hours, Russian airlines operated a total of 134 flights via the airspace of Belarus, while European airlines operated 113 flights via the airspace of Belarus and 53 flights via alternative routes.
