During the period from 1 June to 4 July 2017, airspace restrictions will be applied in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sochi and Kazan, extending to a radius of 100 km around Confederations Cup stadiums and up to the altitude of 8,100 metres. These restrictions will not impact transit flights of civil aviation, state aviation and operation of airports serving foreign and Russian aircraft.General aviation operators or pilots should obtain permissions in advance from Regional Interdepartmental Operational Cells tasked with ensuring flight safety during the FIFA World Cup and Confederations Cup. Any use of restricted areas of airspace within the prescribed period is subject to authorization by the Cells.
Zonal ATM Centres (Moscow, St.-Petersburg, Rostov (for Sochi area) and Samara (for Kazan area) will collect requests from airspace users and forward them to the Cells. Unauthorized flights are strictly prohibited and severe sanctions will be imposed in case of airspace violation. NOTAM containing information on airspace restrictions has already been published.
It is worth recalling that similar restrictions were in place during the Universiade 2013 in Kazan and 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. The imposed restrictions are intended to ensure safety during competitions both on the ground and in the air at the highest international standards.
