FATA and State ATM Corporation start coordinating air transport support for the XIX World Festival of Youth and Students in 2017
From 15 to 21 October 2017, Russia will host the XIX World Festival of Youth and Students. The Festival will take place in Sochi, the capital of the 2014 Winter Olympics.
To ensure air transport support of the Festival in a timely and proper manner, the Federal Air Transport Agency has established an Operations Centre including FATA and State ATM Corporation representatives.
During the Festival and its preparation, the FATA Operations Centre will coordinate and directly engage in the arrangement of air travel for the Festival participants. FATA staff will be available 24/7 at Sochi airport during the Festival.
To arrange on-the-spot assistance to arriving (departing) participants of the XIX World Festival of Youth and Students and their accompanying persons, the FATA has recommended the Directors General of Vnukovo, Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo, Sochi airports and RAMPORT AERO to set up and take charge of operations centres at airports. Such centres will deal with the arrangement of timely and proper airport services for the Festival participants, including information services, effective luggage transportation and delivery, as well as meeting and catering for limited mobility passengers. The management of Sochi airport is recommended to arrange parking spaces on the terminal square for city buses to pick up and drop off the Festival participants, and to work closely together with the Festival organisers to provide accommodation and a working environment for volunteers welcoming the Youth Festival participants at the premises of the Sochi air terminal.
The FATA has recommended airlines, if so requested by the Festival organisers, to ensure early reservation of seats to fly in the Festival participants, and to assume responsibility for the arrangement and quality of services rendered at airports and on board.
Over 20,000 young people aged 18-35 from more than 150 countries will take part in the XIX World Festival of Youth and Students in 2017. A single forum will bring together young leaders from various backgrounds: representatives of youth non-governmental organisations, young journalists, the creative youth and young athletes, young engineers and IT specialists, leaders of youth organisations affiliated with political parties, young entrepreneurs, student council leaders, young scholars and university professors, as well as foreigners learning Russian and interested in the Russian culture.
