New trials of automated ATM system started at Moscow ATC Center, State ATM Corporation Branch

The purpose of the acceptance trials is to check the compliance of the operational and performance characteristics of Moscow ATC Center’s automated ATM system with the «Technical requirements for development of the automated ATM system of Moscow ATC Center» including all amendments, as well as to assess the availability of the automated ATM system for commissioning and conducting performance trials. 

If the acceptance trials are successful, the performance trials of the system will be carried out in September 2015. The outcome of the latter will determine the readiness and fitness of the system to perform ATC. After that, ATC functions will be transferred to the new Center.

During the performance trials, the operation of all systems will be handled by the technical staff of Moscow ATC Center. The staff will simulate ATC using the whole functionality of the system’s equipment without going on the air.

Before the start of the acceptance and performance trials, relevant training was provided to 816 ATC controllers, 133 air traffic planning controller, and 113 engineers. Also, the connection to radar, planning and ADS data sources was made, as well as the interface with adjacent ACCs and interacting systems was established.

During the performance trials, the paperwork on obtaining a commissioning permit and finalizing the certification process will be produced.
