NOTIFICATION OF SHIVELUCH VOLCANO ERUPTION
On 11 April 2023, due to an explosive eruption of Shiveluch volcano in Kamchatka, State ATM Corporation, as approved by the Federal Air Transport Agency and required by ICAO safety provisions, issued a NOTAM.
The eruption was assigned ICAO Colour Code Red (maximum hazard).
The NOTAM instructed aircrews to give due consideration to the natural occurrence in question when selecting flight routes. To ensure safety, airmen are required to continuously monitor weather information changes.
Regional ATS units are ready to assist Russian and foreign airlines’ air crews in selecting alternative safe routes.
The Federal Air Transport Agency is closely monitoring the operation of flights in the region.
