The State ATM Corporation handled over 650 flights during the 2017 Russian Grand Prix round of the Formula 1 World Championship.

The State ATM Corporation handled over 650 flights during the 2017 Russian Grand Prix round of the Formula 1 World Championship. The number of arriving and departing aircraft that received air navigation services ranged from 104 to 165 per day, which exceeds the average daily operations at Sochi aerodrome for April 2017 by 34.5%. A quarter of the total number of flights were operated by airlines of the United Kingdom, Austria, France, Switzerland, Turkey, Czech Republic, Malta, Slovakia and other countries.

The coordinated and expeditious efforts by the staff of the Main Centre of the Joint ATM system, the Rostov Zonal Centre of the Joint ATM system, and the Black Sea ATS Centre of the State ATM Corporation South Air Navigation branch made it possible to ensure a high level of flight safety and efficiency amidst increased volumes and intensity of air traffic. No failures, exceedance of ATS unit capacity limits or significant ground and airborne delays occurred while handling the aircraft operations.
