QNH was implemented in Ugra ATS center
On 28 March 2019, at 00:00 UTC, Ugra ATS center of “North Siberia Air Navigation” branch of State ATM Corporation performed the transition to QNH and altitudes expressed in feet for flights operated to/from Khanty-Mansiysk aerodrome.
In preparation of the transition, hardware and software upgrade was made for ALPHA automated ATC complexes, GRANIT data recording and playback system and ATC simulator manufactured by NITA LLC, ATIS by CSTI Eleron and LKKS-A-2000 by LLC SPEKTR.
Amendments were introduced to ATC procedures, aeronautical information, air navigation specification of Khanty-Mansiysk aerodrome and Russian AIP. New instrument approach procedures were designed based on advanced capabilities of the local augmentation system; ATC and CNS personnel underwent simulation training.
The smooth and timely transition to QNH was carried out thanks to the well-coordinated teamwork of the ATS centre personnel. Khanty-Mansiysk is among the first Russian aerodromes to start using this standard. QNH is already implemented at Pulkovo (St. Petersburg) and Simferopol aerodromes.
