Russia Reclaims Football World Cup among Civil Aviation ATCOs and Pilots
The VIII Football World Cup among civil aviation air traffic controllers and pilots, which took place in Las Vegas, USA, concluded with a victory for the FSUE “State ATM Corporation” team. Ten teams took part in the tournament this time. With the FIFA World Cup held in Russia this year, our players just could not afford failing at the industry’s world championship.
The Russian team went through the group stage with no losses. One after another, they defeated the teams of the United States (4:0), Ireland (5:0), Morocco (3:0), and Latin America (4:0). In the semi-finals, our team won a victory over the Caribbean team rather easily, beating them 7:0. In the final, the Russian footballers were opposed by the International team, which had stopped our players at the semi-final stage last year, leaving them with bronze medals. This year the Russians were able to gain revenge and after a tough struggle won 2:0 thanks to goals scored by Stanislav Chernykh and Evgeny Kuzevanov from North Siberia Air Navigation branch of State ATM Corporation. Overall, the Russian team scored a total of 25 goals that remained unanswered. Special mention is owed to our goalkeepers and defence players, who were able to keep a clean sheet for the Russian team throughout the championship.
Thus, the FSUE “State ATM Corporation” team has become a sevenfold World Cup winner, once again confirming its high status in the world of amateur sport. Congratulations to our football masters on this well-deserved victory!
