State ATM Corporation becomes a Full Member of CANSO

On 18 January 2008, according to the established procedure, FSUE “State ATM Corporation” notified the Secretariat of the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation (CANSO) of its intention to join the Organisation as a Full Member. The State ATM Corporation’s Full Membership application was approved by CANSO Chairman and Secretary General, full ratification of this approval by the Executive Committee will take place on 9 March 2008 at the CEO Meeting in Amsterdam.

CANSO was founded in 1997; it represents the interests of Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) worldwide and supports improvements of the global ANS performance with paramount emphasis on the provision of safe, efficient and cost effective service.

The Organization comprises 47 Full Members and 37 Associate Members. In 2006, CANSO’s ANSP members controlled 61% of world airspace and 84% of world air traffic, and handled total of 44 million aircraft movements. 

CANSO works closely with various international organisations such as IATA, ACI, IFALPA, and at the end of 2006, it was granted observer status at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) which allowed CANSO to represent the interests of the global ATM more substantially. 

The cooperation between the State ATM Corporation and CANSO, which dates back to February 2006, has been in dynamic development since then. A joint initiative on Russian version of “ATM News” published every two weeks on CANSO’s web-site is noteworthy. In view of the growing influence of the Organization and its increasing role in the world aviation community, the State ATM Corporation will draw great benefit from its CANSO Membership through promotion of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, practical application of best practices and full access to all CANSO workgroups.
