Transition to QNH at Mama Airport
Bodaibo ATS centre of the “Eastern Siberia Air Navigation” branch carried out preparatory activities for QNH implementation at civil aviation airports (heliports). As a result, the transition to QNH operations took place at Mama aerodrome. The transition was preceded by theoretical and simulator training of the ATS personnel and operating procedures revision.
On 16 May, the first flight of the IrAero An-24 aircraft on the itinerary Irkutsk - Mama - Irkutsk was successfully completed using altitude values expressed in feet.
It should be noted that the introduction of QNH harmonizes Russian air traffic control provisions with those of ICAO and enhances flight safety.
The QNH transition activities are being carried out in strict accordance with the approved schedule for 2024.
